It’s not everyday that an artist comes along and reveals their vulnerability to the world and lets us into their world of various everyday challenges that they encounter. This short body of work by M.Kay Beats is definitely a much needed breath of fresh air for those who may be looking to getting more in touch with their emotional side, from supreme exotic melodies to the warm sounds of fuzzy 808’s and beautiful layers of piano chords and energizing synths, this project gives us a more up-close and personal view into the emotions as well the message within the picture he’s painted for us. We got a chance to interview the immensely talented introspective producer and he blessed us with giving us a much more detailed explanation about the project, check out our brief interaction below: Nkanyiso(interviewer): M.Kay my guy! Thank you for being here man, been looking forward to this. M.Kay Beats: The Pleasure’s mine bro, thank you for having me. Nkanyiso: Let’s just get straight into it my G, When did your love for music start and who inspired you to start producing? M.Kay Beats: Well my love for producing started in 2011 from my homie owaye lokhu ethi angimphelezele aye studio to record so I first wanted to be a rapper but I soon realized That I couldn’t rap so I told myself that let me try beat making and see and I fell in love. Nkanyiso: What would you call the type of sound that you produce? M.Kay Beats: Ey it's a mixture of everything but is mainly heavily influenced by trap soul. Nkanyiso: Do relationships play a huge role in the songs that you make or does it depend on the vibe of the moment? M.Kay Beats: I would say yes because Sometimes I make the best beats when I'm hurt or going through something in my relationships. Nkanyiso: For those who may inquire as to who is uMkay, how would you describe yourself? M.Kay Beats: Well M.kay is a simple kasi nigga who got into music originally to impress his girlfriend at first but over time found himself falling more in love with the music than his girl. Nkanyiso: Well damn…After this project, can we expect more music? M.Kay Beats: Yeah definitely, I’ve got more music in the vault but since I’m a very shy guy I’m very cautious when it comes to releasing music because the music I make is very personal. Nkanyiso: understandably so, in closing…where can people find you on social media? M.Kay Beats: At the moment I'm only on WhatsApp and Facebook. On WhatsApp you can find me here: +27 74 859 2524 on Facebook it's Mini Kwandile Mweli. Nkanyiso: Thank you so much for your time brother and more blessings. M.Kay Beats: Appreciate y’all for having me. Please check out the project when it drops. Produced entirely by M.Kay Beats himself and released under Zaythini Productions, this release is hopefully the beginning of something special and we look forward to see what the future hold.
